Clubmaker Shaft Extractor

Industrial strength performance at an economical price. Durable and easy to use, the Clubmaker Shaft Extractor is designed for smaller shops but has no problem handling high-volume work. In its third version, this constantly improving tool now features a 5/8" round guide for the collar gate housing to slide on, rather than the extractor's frame — in addition to proven features like the pressure-gauging T-handle, shaft clamp and permanently fixed collar gate.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best bang for the buck Pros: The pulling section has a spring. Stops the user from over stressing or damaging the shaft. I just compresses the spring while carefully applying heat to the club head hosel area. Once the head starts to move the ratchet provided smoothly gets the job done. Most of the working parts are bronzed bushing/bearings. With proper care should last a long time. Cons: Mounting the puller maybe a problem for some. 2 small mounting holes in the bottom. A angle bracket is provided which can not be mounted on a flat surface. For the time being a soft jaw or protected vise is the answer. July 30, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Major Step Backward This 3rd generation model does not live up to the constantly improving description. Despite assertions on the web site, the unit is no longer able to be mounted to a bench unless you drill your own holes through the frame. I verified this with GolfSmith customer service on 4/16/2015. The highly touted "guide rail" is located in a channel that will collect debris without an easy way to clean without pulling out the shop vac. The old model was open at both ends so you could simply push the debris out with a small rod such as your heating rod. Finally, the old model provided a lip on the collar gate that supported the highly touted ferrule splitter. That lip has been removed to incorporate a multiple size collar. This requires you to have to hold the splitter on the shaft by hand. (be sure to wear gloves and safety glasses as split ferrules are sharp and the pressure on the splitter can make it pop off and shoot at your face). Also one reviewer said that the newer model had threads all the way through the block where as the older model relied only on a nut to hold the threaded shaft. The original model had both threads in the block and a nut. The newer model only has the block. I would note that the threads on the new model have more depth and therefore should be stronger. Rated 4 out of 5 by Improved. One major improvement over the old model is that the stationary block is completely threaded for at least 1 1/4" instead of relying on an ordinary 12 thread nut. This was the area that became the greatest area of wear with heavy use and rendered it a useless and expensive piece of junk since you can't buy parts. Another improvement is the different sized shaft collars that are now attached to the moving block. I did not give it a 5 because I think someone needs to realize the need to make parts available for a tool this expensive.. April 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to use and AFFORDABLE! This shaft puller is easy to use, very effective at pulling graphite shafts without damaging them, and best of all, it is AFFORDABLE!! It is a mystery why I waited so long to buy this thing. April 7, 2014
