Love it!

I have had my golf buddy for a year now. Battery life is still good -- 36 holes on one charge! The best feature is the no annual fee pre-loaded courses. I can go anywhere and play anytime without finding the course on line and downloading before I play. Plenty accurate and very durable, I have had no issues and look forward to continued use. I highly recommend over sky caddie...i have owned both now and Golf Buddy wins.

Good unit but very disappointing.
Date:February 23, 2012
Battery life is terrible. When starting out 18 holes with a full charge, the unit will power off at around the 16th hole(4.0 hrs, depending on the pace of play)when utilizing the yardage AND player stats. It will last 18 holes only if using it for yardages and the power settings are set to a minimum. After contacting Golf Buddy and explaining my situation, I was told to go to their website and download an upgrade which would solve the problem. I did so and it made absolutely no difference. I again contacted Golf Buddy and was told to lower the power settings. I stated at that time that I had already reset the levels to as low as possible that would still allow viewing. GB had no more suggestions and made no offer to at least send out a new battery. Disappointed because not only did I not get what I paid for but felt GB didn't stand behind their product like they should have. Too bad, it probably would have been a good unit.

Beware of Water
Date:December 3, 2011
When I first bought the Platinum I was impressed, however after a few weeks of use I realize it was not as good as I thought. Other GPS in this price range will keep club distance averages and even suggest club usage, this one does not. It was difficult to move the pin on the pin finder feature. Other units will allow you to simply plug in the flag placement number. However, the feature that kills it is the fact that any type of water on this unit will destroy the motherboard. In addition, GolfBuddy will cancel the warranty if any wet grass or rain contacts the unit. After 30 days my unit broke and GolfBuddy cancelled my warranty. They did however offer to sell me a refurbished unit at about the same price I bought it new....yipes!!! Buyer beware.

Not bad, could be better
Date:September 20, 2011
Just got this unit a few weeks ago and I have to say overall it's pretty good although it's not without it's faults. First, I had to update the courses right out of the box because a couple new, local courses weren't in the pre loaded directory. Updating the unit was extremely easy and straightforward. Next, the screen resolution is just ok, the screen on my Callaway upro go is actually brighter, but its not a touchscreen, but that is a nice feature to trade for resolution especially since you can pick exact points and yardages (hint: use a golf tee to tap the screen gently if you have large fingers). Signal acquisition is as fast as other units out there and I have yet to lose signal. Battery life is also pretty strong as I was able to play a few rounds with it even with the brightness set at max. Now on to a couple of cons. First, the automatic hole advance feature didn't exactly work that well. Sometimes when standing at the next tee box, the previous holes yardage was still displayed. I corrected this by going into the settings and turning the hole advance from automatic to manual. Next, trying to measure your tee shot off the tee isn't intuitive and requires several steps. My Callaway upro go actually had a dedicated button for that as the designers realized that this was a function that most golfers want to use on almost every hole. Overall, the unit is solidly built, it comes with a plastic belt clip cradle, but I wasn't crazy about that, instead I went to my local dollar store with unit and found a cell phone case that offered better protection all for just $1! It charges with a standard mini USB port and a home charger is included, I also had a car charger with the same adapter from my previous cell phone and that charges it just fine. In other words, there's no need to buy chargers and cases that are "specially designed" for this unit. Screen is nice and big and the pro play feature is cool.
