It employs the iGolf which continuously verifies all course maps and data for up-to-date and accurate information. Map your own course or subscribe to iGolf's database of more than 32,500 courses worldwide. The Expresso AG1 Automotive and Golf GPS also serves as a navigation tool for drivers on the road with its award-winning automotive GPS software and map database utilized by many of the finest car manufactures. Used Expersso in the car several times and it works great. First time to the course to practise range and turned it on to see if it would pick up I was at the course. Could not get a good signal so never came up. Second time was to play and it did come up after I opened it up to put it in the cup holder. Wrote Expresso and they said to open it and get signal then you can close it and put it in you pocket.
Second time out it locked up on the first hole. Would not turn off or let me use any of the screen buttons. My good luck we were paired with a couple and the lady was sharp enough to think the stud on her earing might work to push the reset button. It did. Got home and put a couple paper clips in my bag in case it happens again. Do like the AG1, but take a paperclip!

I bought this for my son for Christmas. Out of the box the Automotive GPS portion is hands-down better than any of the 3 Garmins we own. The commands are plain english and give the actual layout of the streets and rather than the generic straight lines Garmin provides. We went to Pittsburgh and it handled back streets in both WV and PA well. If anything, the initial satellite sync is a little slow; faster than my oldest Garmin but slower than the newest. All in all, it works very well once it syncs but that takes a couple of minutes.
It's winter here so we haven't been able to try the golf usage yet but I am already planning to replace my other 2 Garmins with this unit.

I have now had the Expresso AG1 for 3 weeks and have used it several times for golf, and once as a GPS while driving. It works great! No problems with it. The IGolf feature gives me nearly perfect yardage without a subscription or upgrade. I have customized a couple of creeks on my local course, but it's not really necessary, and easy enough if needed. It just takes a couple of minutes to get the satellite read on my local golf course, so I turn it on as soon as I get in. I live in WNC and you would think all the beautiful trees we are surrounded with (the Nantahala National Forest) would intrude, but they don't, really. I am really happy with my purchase.

Golf GPS not all its cracked up to be

Battery only lasts one round. There is no AC charger. You have to manually advance to the next hole. You have to join to get a firmware update. If someone would give me a $100 right now for it, I'd take it.
