Garmin Approach S1 Works Great!
Date:March 2, 2012
I have been using my Garmin Approach S1 Wrist Watch for 3 weeks. This is my first GPS/rangefinder unit. I have played a half dozen 18-hole rounds with it on my wrist. I have used it for up to two full rounds before re-charging, though the Garmin display showed it had more charge in reserve. I have no complaints about about its set-up, capacity, re-charging or ease of use to this point.
During play, checking yardage is as easy as checking the time of day on your wrist watch. No trouble reading the Garmin S1's uncluttered, clear display on cloudy or sunny days. No troubles with waiting for satellites locking in when I play both windy links-style and traditional tree-lined courses. The Garmin yardages appear to be on target compared to the fairway markers as well as the pin placements when ever I check.
Most important observation is that the Garmin yardages have translated very effectively into my game. This has increased my confidence in club selection based on yardage alone AND in my decisions to adjust club selection based on prevailing conditions.
The Garmin Approach S1 not only has helped improve my decision making, it also has contributed to better results in my game. My numbers of greens-in-regulation, pars and birdies are all trending positive since I've been using the Garmin S1.
One final observation about the last round I played this month. Yes, I checked the yardage on my Garmin S1 from the Par 3 tee-box. After correctly adjusted my club selection based on the wind conditions, I executed a confident, pure swing. Terrific feeling. I made my first ever hole-in-one! Really, it's true; unbelievable, but true.

Crazy Good
Date:February 21, 2012
I've played a dozen rounds with this and will never go without. I'll be a repeat buyer when this goes down. I'm 59 years old, not tech savy and never read the instructions, it so easy to use. The biggest surprize to me was from within a 100 yards which I always went by feel. I rarely see somebody pull out their handheld at this range. Knowing the back of the green yardage has given me the confidence to be firmer with shots and can clearly state this has triimed 2 to 3 strokes off my score. I had my 1st hole in one, besides the planets being lined up correctly and a quad on the previous hole, I went a club stronger on that shot based on the back of green yardage to avoid trouble in the front. It wouldn't have happened without it.

Terrific Device
Date:May 12, 2012
All that I need is approaches so this device is perfect (I'm pretty good at measuring distances for hazards along the way by deduction). I hardly notice it when I play, it's very comfortable, unobtrusive and most of all useful! Since it's always on you you don't have to mess with another device. Perfect for me!
