Aero-Tech Power Coil 50 Wood Shaft:

The Power Coil has been improved by optimizing the torsional profile (the amount the shaft twists at different locations along its length) in each flex so there is a Power Coil shaft for every golfer.

This Power Coil 50 shaft is designed with a high modulus carbon fiber surface layer oriented in a spiral direction down the shaft for more uniform bending properties during the swing. The neutral "hoop wind" virtually eliminates the oscillation of the head resulting in more consistent contact and reduced shot dispersion. The Power Coil surface layer is oriented in a direction that allows it to load in tension while the club is being twisted during the swing. This imparts a tightening of the outer fibers for a more efficient energy transfer to the ball and greater distance.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Straight As An Aero This turned out to be the Saviour of my Long Drive Club. I shot a Bang Bangster for quite a while until my right elbow tendon gave up the ghost. I tried re-shafting the original Stiff SKB shaft w/a Stiff UST I-Rod Driver shaft at first, because the UST's have worked so well in some of my other drivers and fairway woods, and they tend to be a shade more flexible than Penley's etc.; while still providing exceptionally low torque. Sadly, the extra-long hosel and bore depth of "The Bangster" had my UST Stiff Shaft (even though it's a shade more flexible than others) Playing Like An "EXTRA STIFF". As my swing speed has dropped precipitously, due to the tendon, I was soon losing distance, and serving up more slices than Tony's Pizza Parlour, since I currently lack the swing speed to work w/a stiffer shaft. I decided to take a chance on the Aerotech, as a buddy of mine had told me that they shoot exceptionally straight, despite their higher torque ratings. I also hoped that the Regular Flex would end up playing like a borderline Firm/Stiff due to the club head's long hosel and deeper bore depth. This is one gamble that still pays dividends to this day. Thanks to the Aerotech, my drives are only four to seven yards shorter than before---despite a 15 MPH Drop in swing speed. The new, more even tempoed swing agrees well w/the extra torque that this more flexible shaft provides. The ultra light weight has also added 5 MPH to my swing speed, w/out forcing me to juice the swing. I am in love w/my club again, and the shaft seems to have taken out the little bit of harshness at impact that I have always associated w/this club until now. May 12, 2006
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good shaft for lighter weight drivers I used the Aero-Tech Power Coil 50 wood shaft (stiff flex) to make a light weight driver. With a driver head at 175 grams and a light weight grip, the driver weighs in at 255 grams total. Compared to typical drivers that weight over 300 grams, this one feels very light. The Aero-Tech shaft feels to be about the correct flex for a stiff shaft and performs very well. It is amazing that such a light shaft at only 50 grams feels so substantial and has sufficient torque to keep the driver face square even with off-center hits that most of us amateurs experience more often than we'd like to admit. For the price, the Aero-Tech Power Coil 50 wood shaft is a great choice for a light weight shaft. December 25, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent lite weight shaft. Very solid lite weight shaft. Slightly stiffer per flex but a great value! July 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great shaft I purchased this shaft to put into my Cobra ZL driver. I bought an adapter kit on EBay and put the Aero shaft in it. It was easy to install and works great. I'm hitting the ball much straighter. I did not cut the shaft down and had to get use to the extra length. But I am now getting 10 to 15 yards more out of my drives in addition to hitting it straighter. March 26, 2011
