The latest Mr.T Ferrule Tool design

Features a durable aluminum sleeve with a hard ABS plastic handle. The ergonomic, T-shaped handle also features finger molds underneath the handle for a more comfortable grip when installing ferrules. To install ferrule, place the butt end of the shaft on the floor and drive the ferrule on by hand; it will stop one inch from the tip. Then use the hosel of the clubhead to drive the ferrule down the shaft tip penetration depth.

- Works on all conventional iron and wood shaft tips (.335" to .370") including tapered iron shafts.

Good for the hobbiest

I found that this tool worked well, especially on stubborn ferrules. On at least one club, I would have never gotten the ferrule on the shaft without this tool...very tight fit! I agree with other reviewers who wished there was a centering pin to help guide the tool. Still, for the money it is a useful tool for those of us who reshaft just a handful of clubs each year.

It damages the ferrule if you are not extra careful. It needs a pin in the center to guide the shaft into place.
Cons: Difficult to Use, Poor Design

Damaged My Ferrule
Date:October 24, 2009
Perhaps this review is better for the Snake Eyes Iron Ferrules which are dreadfully difficult to install. The folks at the local store recommended this ferrule installer to make the task a little easier, after telling me, "yeah the SE ferrules are very tight". It looks like a well made tool and appears to protect the ferrule during installation. With my first try it bent the edge of the ferrule and I had to cut it off. I rated this product "fair" just because it probably works better with other less finiky ferrules. However, I was very disappointed to lose my last spare ferrule. For the other clubs I used my thumb to get it started, a rubber mallet to set it in place and the club head to position the depth. The only thing I found that helped was to abrade the tip of the shaft (for me, a TT DG SL iron shaft) to just below the top of the ferrule and use a file and sandpaper on the inside top of the ferrule before installation to remove enough material to get it to slide.
Pros: Quality
Cons: Difficult to Use

Nice, but needed?
Date:February 3, 2009
I've just started putting together golf clubs and figured I needed something like this. In the first set of irons I put together I didn't use it at all and everything worked fine. The ferrules went on easily and I used the iron head to push them to the proper lengths. That being said, I'm sure I'll run into some situations down the line where this thing comes in really handy.
