Environmentally-sensitive 2-sided tape works great with no chemical smells or messes or solvent disposal to worry about. Works best by misting with a spray bottle; use 2-3 tablespoons of dish soap mixed with 1 qt. tap water for lubrication (note: do not use soap when installing air-cushioned or ribbed grips). Sets up in about 30-45 minutes, but don't over-douse (water solution takes longer to dry than std. solvent). Tape Strips provide ease of use and convenience for gripping individual clubs (2" wide x 10" long).

My friend gave me his old clubs, which are still in good condition but just need re-griping. Since I am new to golfing, I do not want to sink too much money on it at this time. So after doing some research on the internet, I have decided to re-grip them myself. I have never done any re-gripping before so this' my first time. I order the pre-cut water activated grip tape strips so I don't have to worry about using solvent or cutting to the right length, and I also ordered extra tape in case I screw up. After I have done the first club, I have to say this water activated grip tape does help making the job A LOT easier. With soap and water, the new grips slide in easily. Took me 15 minutes to do the first club because I want to do it slow at first. But once I got the trick, it took me less than an hour to re-grip 10 clubs. It took me longer to remove the old grip than putting on the new one. Now my only problem is, I don't know what I should do with the extra tape I ordered for spare. May be I should buy more clubs just to change the grip :)

Regripping made simple
Date:October 1, 2010
I have done regripping in the past but gave it up because of the mess. Fooling around with the solvent was nothing but a pain. When I saw this I thought I would give it another try. The first try was a little tough since the grip didn't seem to slide on without quite a bit of pressure. Then I found out that the dispenser I had used to put the dish soap into the spray bottle was almost out of soap. I added more soap to the spray bottle and my problems were over. I have done fifteen clubs and they all were a breeze. Easy clean-up and no lingering solvent odor. My advice. Make sure you have the right amount of soap in the spray bottle. Soak the grips in hot water. Lightly spray both the tape on the shaft and the inside of the grip. Its a piece of cake. The toughest job is getting the old tape off the shafts.

I had never used water grip tape before and needed instructions. Called Golfsmith and eventually got someone who explained how to do it.
Otherwise, no mess, no odor and no residue.

You must add a little soap to the water. If you do not add enough soap the grip will not slide completely over the grip. I buy a cheap plastic spray bottle fill it with water add the liquid soad and cover the tape until it is dripping. The grip slides on very easy, if it doesn't add more soap and make sure you spay it on heavy.
