Good Deal

I bought these for a very decent price for less than $300. They Have the True temper shafts and had one or two nicks but its used people. I have a 16 handicap and find that these clubs hit very crisp and are easy to work. I did find that I did lose around five yards in distance but have increased the ball flight, so I was able to drop them on the greens better! This is my first forged set and was concerned about being able to "handle" them. I find that they are responsive and mishits are just that, mishits. The clubs however, were somewhat forgiving for a middle of the road player like me. They have a very sweet feel when you strike the ball almost effortless. My last set of clubs were callaways x-14 pros so I did have to get used to a slightly fatter lip when I addressed the ball, but other than that, I feel I got the better of the deal at that price!

Not a game-improvement club

I purchased a set of these with rifle flighted 6.0 shafts and golf pride tour velvet grips. I really enjoy playing these clubs.

As long as you put a good swing on it, the ball does exactly what you tell it to. If you put a bad stroke on it you are gonna pay for it. These clubs are about a club shorter than the set of Big Bertha's I had before. With the BB's I was playing a PW around 135-140, with these the PW is around 125 for me. Six iron used to be around 200-210, now it's closer to 180-190. This is due to the lofts being weaker in the x-tours and the fact that they are not meant to maximize distance.

I can pull off any shot I want with these clubs, AS LONG AS I MAKE A GOOD SWING. Knockdown shots, low fades, high draws are pretty easy with a good stoke. Yes these have cavity backs, but these are definitely not beginner clubs. With a good swing these feel as good as any Mizuno, Titleist, Nike, or anything else out there.

The ONLY I don't like about these clubs is the top-line. It is a little thick to suit my eye. Other than that, I have no problem playing these clubs until they literally fall apart, and I don't see that happening any time soon.

X Tours ideal for better players

I recently purchased a barely used set of Callaway X Tour irons with new hybrid Golf Pride grips. The forged irons made my game better by enabling me to better control distance and spin. Like other forged irons and thin soled clubs they are suited for better players that have their swings essentially worked out. They will accentuate your faultsbut that is what is needed for single digit handicappers to improve. If you are a single digit handicapper who works the ball in a variety of conditions this is an ideal set. If you are are a mid to high handicapper that needs added forgiveness stick with Callaway or other brand standard cavity back irons.

Wasn't inmpressed with the forged clubs. They exagerated my bad habits. They felt great when I did make a good shot, but that was probably 2 out of 10 swings. If I could get out to play more then 1-2 times a week, maybe they would be a better club for me. Some clubs were dirty and scuffed / knicked badly. I have been playing with Tommy Armour 845's for 10 years (since highschool) and they are in better shape then these. One decent thing about the clubs was the new Golf Pride grips, but I would have preferred stock Calloway grips.
