Cobra ZL Driver
2010 Golf Digest Hot List

The Cobra ZL Driver is a multi-material design driver with a highly engineered structure that produces a hot face with superior sound. Adjustable Flight Technology (AFT) provides three adjustable face angles for optimal ball flights. The stock grip is the Cobra Tour Velvet by Golf Pride. This is the best driver for all golfers seeking maximum distance. The "ZL" stands for Zero Limits. That’s the mindset Cobra engineers had when they set out to design the longest driver in Cobra history. They pushed the boundaries of forgiveness and distance with multi-material construction, a milled rhombus face insert and an Aldila VooDoo shaft. Count Cobra PGA Staff Pro JB Holmes among the believers. He put the ZL in his bag and now you can too!

I am truely a beginner golfer and this is a great driver for someone new to the game. It is the most forgiving driver I have ever hit, making it a great for any beginner or someone without a good drive. I hit straight and have plenty of loft. This club easily added 30 yrds to my drive as well as making me 100x more consistent. Overall, couldn't have choosen a better driver to be my first driver purchase.

The ZL is a sleeper. The headshape is classy and the size modest for a 460cc driver. At address, it reminds me of the originally Rapture. I set the face open, and reshafted to my usual shaft one inch shorter than the standard length. The stock Voodoo shaft is tip soft and butt heavy, and my shaft was a similar weight yet more tip heavy. This profile allowed me to shorten the club length without losing too much headweight. Once the specs were dialed in, the driver came alive. The feel is slightly muted but more vibrant than any other carbon composite driver I've played. The sound is lively and a perfect pitch. Not embarrassing loud, but not dull muted. A classic and confident pop at impact. My other drivers are the 910d2 and G20. The Cobra is as long and forgiving. A brilliant driver that has taken a back seat to other more popular names. The price has reduced dramatically now that it is a couple of years old. Buy it, install the correct shaft, and swing freely.

One finely tuned driver

I thought my Diablo Edge was a nice driver until I tried one of these on different occaisions on the driving range at my golf course. The ZL is in a different class all together! It will all add extra yardage to your drive and you do have to hit very badly to not get a decent drive out of it. Very nice looking club with a pleasant sound upon striking the ball. I grabbed the chance to get it on the cheap and I was very pleased to do so, believe me if you are looking for a great driver you can't go wrong with this one especially at this price.

Simply awesome!

I've owned the ZL driver for close to a year now, and LOVE this thing! Like most of the reviewers here, I gained at least 10 yards off the tee, but more importantly, the ZL will keep you on the fairway at the same time. Hits off the heel or toe might start off target, but quickly make there way back towards the short grass, and with minimal loss in distance.
I couldn't believe it when I saw the price has been dropped to $200. At that price, I would argue that this is the best value on Golfsmith. I bought mine when it was fairly new, so I paid $350 and haven't regretted it once [my wife on the otherhand....;-)]. I always thought this club never garnered the respect it deserved, but with the price drop, it looks to only have benefited the golfer who is willing to try it out. You wont be dissapointed if you give the ZL a shot...or should I say bomb!
(sorry if I sound like a giddy school girl haha, but this club really is that good, and I'm still in awe of the $200 price tag!)
