The Garmin Approach G3 Golf GPS features a 2.6” sunlight-readable, touchscreen display for easy operation and keeps score for up to four players. This waterproof unit is preloaded with detailed CourseView maps, a database of more than 12,000 golf courses in the U.S and Canada. Garmin is continually adding maps to CourseView and there are no subscription fees. The detailed golf course maps provide golfers with precise distance information about fairways, hazards and greens from any point on the course. As you move about the course, the unit continuously updates your position and shows you the distance to each target. Approach the new leader in the clubhouse!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great unit The yardages are spot on which has improved my game. I know how far I hit each club and now I get the correct yardage instead of having to rely on the yardage markers at the golf course which is usually wrong. I have heard that these units eat batteries alive but have found this untrue. I get five rounds in before they have to be replaced which equates to 15-16 hours of use. These units are easy to use and are great. Highly recommed February 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exactly what I wanted... Great Garmin, exactly what I wanted. I just returned from a week-long golf trip and played 5 different courses in Arkansas, all came up on the unit and the yardages were spot-on. Can't wait to use it on my home course, but we still have snow! I compared my yardages with my playing partner's laser and were within a yard. The ability to move the pin location by touching the upper right corner, and find aiming point yardages was invaluable. I used NiMh rechargeable batteries and got at least 54 holes before needing to change out. I considered the G6 but wanted the AA batteries, this unit is very comparable with most of the features and a lot less $. I also considered the G5, which is very similar except it has a bigger screen. You won't be disappointed with the G3, I know I'm not. March 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great initial perception I just purchased the Garmin G3. The unit was easy to set up and access the download from Garmin. I was impressed how the courses in our area in Saskatchewan, Canada all were there including some smaller courses. Since we are overloaded with snow here yet, I will have to wait another month or more before testing the accuracy. Other reviews commented on the battery life. I plan to use rechargeable batteries which isn't a lot different when I had to recharge my older version of SkyCaddie continually. I am looking forward to not having to pay yearly fees and downloading specific courses like SkyCaddie. I am spending some time in the Southern US during the winter and wanted a GPS that have the courses already downloaded. March 19, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by It works for me. This is my first GPS and while the graphics are simple, it provides the information I need. It can be somewhat difficult to read in the shade but by tilting you can easily remedy that problem. Before I purchased the G3, I had read previous reviews about the battery life and they are spot on. Even the rechargeables do not last for more than one and a half rounds. I am going to try the lithium rechargeables next to see if they will last longer. But overall, I am quite happy with the G3. January 16, 2013
