Odyssey Black Series-i 2 Ball Putter
2009 Hot List Item

The Black Series now has another option for golfers demanding the best in performance, precision and craftsmanship. Black Series i Putters feature the same multi-material construction as the original Black Series Putters, but now utilize the new multi-layer Tour insert that provides premium feel and responsiveness. Odyssey engineers have precisely controlled each putter’s headweight so it can be matched with the specific shaft length for impeccable consistency and control. The rich, nickel-plated finish will also appeal to elite players. Each model utilizes the Fine-Tuned Loft System, which optimizes each putter’s loft in conjunction with its center of gravity (CG) to generate pure roll characteristics.

Features:

  • Multi-material construction through the 1025 carbon steel body and weighted tungsten flange create a low, deep CG to promote true roll
  • Head weight optimization maximizes consistency and distance control, enhances feel and provides better roll characteristics
  • Tour insert is constructed of an elastomer core that enhances feel and a thin, firm outer striking surface infused with urethane for fine-tuned responsiveness
  • Precision milled head with a rich, nickel-plated finish creates optimal balanced weighting
  • Hogged-Out Hosel allows weight to be redistributed to the tungsten flange for a low, deep CG

Truest roll
Date:January 25, 2012
I tried at least 20 different putters bought six and kept trading them back. I wanted. Blade but I just couldn't make it work for myself. I tried this mallet and havnt looked back. It doesn't hit the ball it rolls the ball, and though I'm far from it my ball takes professional look to it on putts. I love playing snake with my buddies cause I havnt three putt more then 6 times in about 25 rounds since purchasing this. Only problem is its very tough to ball scoop.

Own a Scotty, but after a test, this is great
Date:June 30, 2010
Background before I review it, I own a Scotty Cameron Futura, which is a big back, well weighted putter. I put on a golf course which has fast, bent-grass greens, so touch is very important, no matter what handicap.
This putter has something that most others don't, a feel that results from shaft length. If you buy any other putter that is 35 inches, the weight of the head is the same as the 33 inch one. But this putter has a very weighted feel depending on shaft length. Effectively, don't buy a longer than needed shaft length. Regardless, the putter was great to putt with, the 3 meter putts were in the 6/10 range, which is not bad at all with a new test putter. One problem that I found later on though, while really bad, is something you come to expect. The putter is hard to work with when putting off a slope (sideways). The big weight can cause twisting when you are hitting short putts, as a result of the heavy weight. This, in my opinion, can cause us amateurs alot of problems.
Pros: Quality, Durability

This is a great feeling putter, and rolls the ball instead of bouncing it. Very easy too set up. Highly recomend going out and spending the money.
