Snake Eyes 685BX Forged Chrome Wedge Head

Advanced materials and manufacturing combine to create one of our best wedge designs ever. Fluid forged using a soft 8620 carbon steel, Snake Eyes 685BX wedge heads undergo an 800-ton force forging process, creating a softer feel and increased durability. The wedges have the USGA-maximum groove volume (9% greater than any previous Snake Eyes wedge), by way of expanded groove width. CNC face milling ensures perfect flatness across the face and increases friction between the club and ball. Finally, the tour-influenced sole grind relieves material in the heel and toe for excellent versatility in a variety of conditions.

Just as good as Vokey
Date:September 6, 2011
I just took out a vokey spin milled 60 and a cleveland 54 588 dsg wedge to put these wedges in. I can honestly tell you that I am blown away by the versatility of these wedges and how well they spin. It spins just as hard as a brand new spin milled vokey guaranteed. I was kinda skeptical of the 10 degrees of bounce on the 58 b/c I like a low bounce wedge, but they are easy to open up and their turf interaction is superb. I am very pleased with these wedges. All I can say is try them.

Great value
Date:July 27, 2011
My vokey set was pretty much worn out, so I thought I would take a chance and try my hand at clubmaking. Turned out to be a pretty good idea with this clubhead. I put together a 52, 56, 60 set, and would put them up against any other set of wedges I have hit. They provide solid contact, precise distance control, and they spin the ball real well even out of less than perfect lies. They are also great out of the sand.

I tinker with my wedges more than any other club in the bag. Every season I build about 2 dozen demo clubs, almost half are wedges. At my club I am known as the Wedge Guy. I had been looking at the 685 Box groove wedges since the first off the year and finally built a set two weeks ago. Besides appearance the two qualities I look for are feel and adjustability. The 8620 steel yields the kind of feel a player expects from a first quality wedge and the Box grooves create a good amount of spin and bite. I bent the 52 and 56 2 degrees upright and firmed up the loft a little. Both heads were within .5 degrees of spec. I paired them with the Apollo Superlite 95 steel shaft (R flex) w/ the stock tip trim and D3 swingweight. If you haven't tried the Apollo Superlites give them a try. I play the SE Distance ball and the reach on these wedges is right on the money. Give these wedges a try before that go away. The next gen 895 heads look great too and I will have them in the bag later in the year. For now the 685BX are doing a great job.

quality wedge heads
Date:April 11, 2011
I recently replaced a pair of well worn snake eye 600w forged wedges with these 685bx heads. I was afraid I would spend the season getting used to a new feel, design, and results. I was wrong. These heads deliver control, max spin and in just two rounds made me wonder why I waited so long. I bought a 52 and 56 degree. They are soft enough to move the loft to the exact distance I want with very little effort. Great wedges !
