Snake Eyes Python XLD Fairway Heads

Made of 17-4 cast stainless steel, Snake Eyes Python XLD Fairway Heads improve on our popular Python XL models by using a new precision welding technique. 100% thin-bead plasma welding joins the clubhead's four pieces, resulting in 8-10 grams less weight than traditional welding creates. This allows us to redistribute that weight within the head for optimal launch dynamics and forgiveness. A cup face design featuring Dynamically Optimized CT (DOC) face technology adds extra low, deep weight for consistent, powerful launches at the ideal trajectory.

Features:

  • 100% thin-bead plasma welding resulting in 8-10 grams less weight than traditional welding creates
  • Redistributed weight within the head for optimal launch dynamics and forgiveness

These are really nice fairway metals! just the right amount of face height... low enough to launch the ball of tight lies... but not so low that you will whiff off of fluffy lies! They have great sound and distance and quite forgiving. I am not a huge fan of green cosmetics... but that is being picky... also, in a perfect world... every metalwood would take multiple weight screws!!! Listen up, Golfsmith... Please get back to multiple screw designs... I love the flexibility it gives me to properly fit my customers! Thanks.

Excellent value for the money
Date:March 29, 2010
Bought this head to make a #3 wood which I am able to use (beginner). I like the slim clubace, it swings smoothly without noticeable air resistance. Because of this it is not really forgiving, but if hit well the ball launches beautifully. Excellent bargain.
Pros: Features, Quality, Good Value

3 wood
Date:February 2, 2010
I intially wanted the XLS 3 wood, but it was not available, so I ordered the XLD 3 wood and the VSE60 shaft and have not regretted it. The first time I hit a ball at the driving range with it, it went out about 200 yards and straight, so I liked it immediately. I have found it to be easy to get the ball up in the air, and I have faith that it will put the ball at least 185 yards down the fairway. It is cold right now, so I am thinking that when summer comes I will be back to at least 195 yards with my 3 wood.
Pros: Easy to Use
