TaylorMade TLC Weight Cartridge

For use in TaylorMade & Rossa moveable weight products.

The TLC cartridge's three-piece construction incorporates titanium, stainless steel and tungsten. Its design was conceived to keep it firmly in place in the TLC port during the swing, yet easy to remove and reinstall. It is completely interchangeable for use in the r7 quad or r7quad TP driver.

When developing the r7 quad's heavier TLC cartridges, TaylorMade's research and development department was challenged to find a way to secure them in the TLC port while also making them easy to remove. TaylorMade engineers solved the problem by devising a three-piece TLC Cartridge.

The first piece is made of heavy tungsten in the shape of a truncated cone, with a hole bored through from top-to-bottom, which accommodates the second piece of the cartridge - a long, thin screw. The third part is a stainless steel retaining ring permanently attached to the rim of the cylinder, like a cap. The head of the screw is sandwiched loosely between the top of the truncated cone and the retaining ring, allowing access to the screw through the center of the ring.

When the screw is tightened, the cylinder descends into the port until the cylinder is wedged within the port's walls, creating what is known as a 'press-fit' - equal pressure on all sides holds the weight securely in place. When the screw is loosened, the head of the screw pushes upward against the retaining ring, dislodging the truncated cylinder from its pressure fit and allowing the TLC Cartridge to slide freely from the port.

A good idea

Weights on a club head are not attractive. But the MWT idea is has its advantages. Newer drivers are longer lengthened. I like my drivers at 45 inches. The TLC weights allow me to add weight to the clubhead and after I shorten my driver. This maintains the swingweight and hence the feel of the clubhead. I do not like putting lead tape on my driver, and hot melting can be expensive. A great alternative.

This is an effective way to adjust your trajectory, spin and direction bias without altering your club or requiring the services of a clubmaker.
I think TM has it quite refined with all of the optional weights available. They are a bit pricey, but so easy to do and cosmetically very clean looking. Overall, a brilliant idea.
I have a CGB MAX driver that I have fine tuned for my swing with the adjusable weights.

Very helpful to change swing weight if you change the shaft in one of the Taylormade 460 driversand wanted to add length to the shaft. Adding weight produced higher trajectories and more club head feel.
