Wilson Pi7 Performance Iron Set 3-PW with Steel Shafts

The Wilson Staff Pi7 irons deliver maximum performance and forgiveness for the shot-maker. Its Tour-preferred smaller blade size and shape features soft top lines and reduced offset with a longer hosel that cuts through rough lies. The small, compact head provides a clean set-up and hides the perimeter-weighted cavity. And while the heel and toe weighting delivers high Moment of Inertia (MOI), the longer irons also offer a wider sole and slightly larger head for improved playability. Additionally, Dynamic Gold steel shafts from True Temper offer the high flex and weighting desired by Tour players for a penetrating ball flight and ultimate control.

The Pi7 gained entrance to the winner's circle two weeks after being put into the bag of Wilson Staff Professional Markus Brier, who promptly won the 2007 Volvo China Open. Following that was the impressive British Open win by Wilson Staff Professional Padraig Harrington.

Pretty darn good cast club

The irons are beautiful with a chrome finish. The black anti-vibration coating is a little rubbery and sticky. I can see a problem with sand and dirt sticking a little too much for some peoples comfort. They are very similar in size to my previous Titleist 755's. Not tiny but definitely not large. I'm a forged guy and this is my first foray into cast clubs in years. My dislike about most cast clubs I've tried is they have huge soles and they balloon easily. I can't control trajectory or work them, but that's not the case here. I could control my trajectory with these Wilsons as easily, or even better than my Titleists. I would almost say I could control trajectory as well as my Hogans of the past. Working them was a little more difficult, but doable. I can't hit a huge hook with these on demand yet. Feel is much better than expected. I could tell on most shots exactly where I hit the ball on the club face. The exception being chip shots. All chips feel a little hollow and tinny, but I don't chip with them much anyway so it's not a big deal to me. Long irons were money all day. I haven't played with them enough to dial in any distance control criteria on the shorter irons, but with the outstanding trajectory control I'm getting, I don't foresee any problems. All in all, I got a smoking deal on these irons and I couldn't be happier.
