Bushnell Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder

The Bushnell Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder is the ultimate rangefinder and golf course tool. It combines Bushnell's world-class laser technology and detailed, pre-loaded GPS information, creating a match made in heaven! The Hybrid rests in your hand with an ergonomic precision that builds confidence and pride while setting a new standard for distance measurements.

The laser rangefinding technology engineered into the Hybrid provides golfers with precise distances within one yard to virtually any point on any course in the world. The GPS function allows users to access more than 16,000 North American golf courses which have been pre-loaded onto the device, making it ready to use right out of the box without ever having to pay any membership fees. This GPS system provides simple, at-a-glance distances to the front, center and back of the green. It also offers four custom points on a hole that can be extremely helpful to reference on blind tee shots/approaches on a golf course. The GPS distances are also convenient on days when it is “cart paths only” when golfers are deciding what clubs to bring. Another great feature is the shot distance mode that makes it easy for the golfer to gauge how far a drive or an approach was hit. With the Hybrid, you can now acquire exact distances to the flag, lip of a bunker, tree or any other object on the course. Knowing the exact lasered distance to the flag, as well as the GPS-provided distance to the front, center and back of the green enables the golfer to strategize and hit every approach shot with confidence. Having the ability to use both laser and GPS technologies, the golfer now has the best of both worlds in one unit.

The Hybrid is legal for tournament play under USGA decision 14-3/0.5 that permits a committee to establish a local rule that allows a player to use a distance-measuring device to obtain distance information. Over 90% of PGA Tour pros and top amateurs trust Bushnell laser rangefinders to provide them the most accurate distances available in golf today.

The Bushnell Hybrid is ready to use out of the box without the requirement of any additional software or hardware. However, a computer and internet access is required to register the device within 45 days of purchase. In order to do this, you will need a PC (Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98 compatible) or Mac (OS X, version 10.4.x or later).

5 stars, but returning it
Date:February 29, 2012
If you're reading this, you already know the basics, so I'll proceed on that assumption ...
The Hybrid is a nice unit. The GPS side is not map-of-the-hole type, but I prefer simple. The software is effecient, simple. In theory, it works great. However ...
GPS is subject to GIGO, garbage in, garbage out. This is not a rip on the Hybrid, bit it's unnerving to know that the info might be wrong. After re-mapping at a couple of courses, I decided that I couldn't trust GPS. Even if 95% of courses are accurately mapped, I simply wouldn't have confidence in the read-out. And confidence is really what it's all about ...
So I'm returning the Hybrid and buying a straight laser, the V2 or something similar.

I've owned this product for a month and i have had no problems, the product works just like they say.I play a course thats flat for the most part so i use the rangefinder until the 18th hole,i turn the gps on because I'm blocked by a canyon wall that i have to shoot over so i can get the yds to the middle of the green,if you only use the rangefinder like me I'm sure the battery will last 1/2 the summer. If you use the gps for the hole round i would think i could get 4 to 5 rounds before recharging the battery. The preloaded courses so far have been good and there free unlike other GPS range finders so that was a big plus for me.Since i've been using this rangefinder i'd say 3 to 4 times at least,i can't believe the distance it is to what i would think it is by the markers on the course(unreal differences)Well i you can see i'm very pleased with my purchase,if you want the right club in your hands buy one.sr123

Love it!!

Had another Bushnell range finder prior to this one. Got this right before Christmas and just used it for the first time. Worked like a charm. Much lighter and smaller than my prior one, and it was great to have the front and back of green yardages. At the end of my 18 hole round, the battery indicator was still indicating a full battery. Don't know how many rounds it will last, but absolutely no problem with 1 complete round.

Save your dough. Total gimmick.
Date:November 26, 2011
The range finder of the unit is excellent... but so are the many MUCH cheaper range finders on the market. All Bushnell laser range finders are outstanding. However this "combo" laser range finder/GPS is gimmicky and a battery sucker extraordinare. You MIGHT make one round out of it but you absolutley have to charge it fully BEFORE each use. The GPS should be called GPS lite. It gives distances to fronts and backs of greens (inaccurately.)
But guess what?
The distance that the laser range finder gives you is DIFFERENT from what the GPS on the unit gives you! It can be off by as much as 10 yards or more! I have tried it on several different courses with the same inconsistency on virtually every hole. You can "customize" the course you are playing if you have a couple of spare weeks on your hands. Total marketing gimmick. Turning off the GPS unit and using it STRICTLY as a laser range finder is the absolute way to go. The battery will last at least 10 rounds before needing a re-charge. If you turn on the GPS forget about stopping at the turn for a drink or snack. The battery won't last the full round. If you are behind a slow 4 some you might get 13 holes in befoe the whole thing goes night night- including the laser range finder!!! Get a REAL full featured GPS unit or a REAL cheap Bushnell laser range finder. You wil lthank me.
