Bushnell Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder

The Bushnell Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder is the ultimate rangefinder and golf course tool. It combines Bushnell's world-class laser technology and detailed, pre-loaded GPS information, creating a match made in heaven! The Hybrid rests in your hand with an ergonomic precision that builds confidence and pride while setting a new standard for distance measurements.

The laser rangefinding technology engineered into the Hybrid provides golfers with precise distances within one yard to virtually any point on any course in the world. The GPS function allows users to access more than 16,000 North American golf courses which have been pre-loaded onto the device, making it ready to use right out of the box without ever having to pay any membership fees. This GPS system provides simple, at-a-glance distances to the front, center and back of the green. It also offers four custom points on a hole that can be extremely helpful to reference on blind tee shots/approaches on a golf course. The GPS distances are also convenient on days when it is “cart paths only” when golfers are deciding what clubs to bring. Another great feature is the shot distance mode that makes it easy for the golfer to gauge how far a drive or an approach was hit. With the Hybrid, you can now acquire exact distances to the flag, lip of a bunker, tree or any other object on the course. Knowing the exact lasered distance to the flag, as well as the GPS-provided distance to the front, center and back of the green enables the golfer to strategize and hit every approach shot with confidence. Having the ability to use both laser and GPS technologies, the golfer now has the best of both worlds in one unit.

The Hybrid is legal for tournament play under USGA decision 14-3/0.5 that permits a committee to establish a local rule that allows a player to use a distance-measuring device to obtain distance information. Over 90% of PGA Tour pros and top amateurs trust Bushnell laser rangefinders to provide them the most accurate distances available in golf today.

The Bushnell Hybrid is ready to use out of the box without the requirement of any additional software or hardware. However, a computer and internet access is required to register the device within 45 days of purchase. In order to do this, you will need a PC (Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98 compatible) or Mac (OS X, version 10.4.x or later).

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by I don't see the downside - The Hybrid is great. The Hybrid is the best I have ever used. I rarely use the GPS since I can see all the greens. Yes, GPS may be off a bit. Either the course was not mapped correctly or toaday's flag, although marked in the center, is not actually in the center of the green where it was mapped. So what? I don't know why anyone would use the GPS feature if they could see the flag anyway. The power of the GPS is when you can't see the green or flag. Would you rather use the GPS portion for that kind of shot or guess? So you are a few yards off. You're better off having used the GPS in this case. The GPS on the Hybrid locks on very quickly, knows where you are and presents a list ouf courses in the area to choose from rather than a menu of courses that you had to download. That's outstanding. Some complain that this unit eats batteries. I have not found this to be the case. I regularly use it for two rounds and have never run the battery down. I have owned Sky Caddie and UPro. There is no comparison between those GPS units and the Hybrid. How far is it to the 150 marker, the hazzard or that bunker? Just shoot it and you will know. I don't know why anyone would buy anything else but this unit. August 21, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by LOVE THE UNIT I LOVE THE UNIT, BUT HATE THE BATTERY LIFE. BUY THIS RANGEFINDER IF YOU DON'T MIND RECHARGING THE BATTERY EVERY WEEK. July 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by What a GREAT idea Why did no one think of this before..the GPS feature is simple but more than adequate and the pin seeker range finder is one of the easiest to use I have ever tried. Since this was just a recent purchase, we have not tried out all the available features yet and have only had the opportunity to use at a couple other courses in our area other than our home course, but it works wonderfully. The battery lasts and lasts. The dual feature is really great if a course is doing improvements and the GPS numbers are not accurate if hitting to temporary greens or hitting from temporary tees. I am usually skepitical of sales hype, but this has so far lived up to the promises. GREAT idea, GREAT Product July 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by 5 stars, but returning it If you're reading this, you already know the basics, so I'll proceed on that assumption ... The Hybrid is a nice unit. The GPS side is not map-of-the-hole type, but I prefer simple. The software is effecient, simple. In theory, it works great. However ... GPS is subject to GIGO, garbage in, garbage out. This is not a rip on the Hybrid, bit it's unnerving to know that the info might be wrong. After re-mapping at a couple of courses, I decided that I couldn't trust GPS. Even if 95% of courses are accurately mapped, I simply wouldn't have confidence in the read-out. And confidence is really what it's all about ... So I'm returning the Hybrid and buying a straight laser, the V2 or something similar. February 29, 2012
