Titleist AP1 712 4-GW Iron Set with Steel Shafts

Dedicated to providing serious golfers with the highest performing equipment in golf, Titleist introduces the next generation of its groundbreaking Advanced Performance irons. The new Titleist AP1 Iron stays true to the design mission of "Advanced Performance with Feel." It is a multi-material, dual cavity iron that provides modern ball flight and forgiveness with the traditional look, feel, and sound that serious golfers have come to expect from a Titleist iron. The new AP1 model features sleeker contours that result in a better address position, and the iron has been improved with internal weighting that utilizes higher density tungsten in order to distribute mass more efficiently which increases the moment-of-inertia (MOI) without changing the CG location or the blade length. The higher MOI provides more consistent ball speed across the clubface and better distance control. Better distance control leads to more scoring opportunities and is the key to good iron play. Finally, this iron provides more forgiveness without any loss of workability or shot control.

Additional features:

  • Shaft type: True Temper Dynalite Gold XP
  • Set composition: 4-Iron thru Gap Wedge
  • Finish: chrome
  • Increased forgiveness
  • Higher ball speed
  • More forgiving long irons
  • Traditional short irons
  • Improved solid feel
  • Improved appearance

Simply Amazing!
Date:March 22, 2012
These clubs are incredible! I recently got fitted for the AP1 712's and 710's at my local store, and although the difference between the two (other than the price and looks) is very minimal, it was enough for me to spend the extra Buck. These irons feel, look, and sound amazing... and "ADVANCED PERFORMANCE" is truly WOW! I recently switched over from Ping i15's, and i had told myself before i would never leave Ping... after comparing these to the i20's and s56's (which were definitely great clubs) i was sold immediately! The most noticable PLUS for these irons is not only the feel and sound a perfect strike makes, but the ball speed is incredible! If i could, i would giver these a 10 out of 5 stars!

Exellent Clubs, You gotta buy
Date:January 30, 2012
Just got these fitted for me a month ago, they arrived last thursday, they are absolutely great, I am a 11 handicap with a good swing and a high clubhead speed for my skill level, I got these with TT DG X100 shafts, they help me keep the ball down, performance wise these are great, coming off a set of ping g5's i didnt know if these would have as good of a feel but they are better, I like the clubhead, the topline is a bit thick but the sole is perfect size,, these have a great solid sound and a good penetrating flight with long irons and a mid high trajectory with the short irons, i am consistently hitting center with these and am hitting good distances with a high draw. Well done Titleist, if you're a mid handicapper, dont hesitate, buy these

AP1 712 Irons Are Soild
Date:January 22, 2012
I'm a 13 HC. Describe my game as either hot or cold. Bought the AP1 712 with the steel Dynalite Gold XP shaft with standard lie and shaft lengths. Have played with them probably 10 times. First, aesthetically they are great improvement over the AP1 710's. I was playing with the Ping I15 and wanted something just a bit more forgiving but still with some workability. I15's are a great club but when my game was off they were a bit harder to control especially 4 and 5 irons. With the AP1's my confidence has gone way up with all the irons but especially the 4 and 5 iron. Ball flight with 4-7 iron is excellent. Ball really feels good coming off the face of the club (similar to forge feel). Have seen my average distance increase with all the clubs compared to i15's, sometimes a lot more than I expect (still dialing in distances). Sometimes the 9 thru gap wedge hit a bit higher than I would like. I think it is due to early release but these clubs are suppose to get the ball easily in the air. Found them easy to hit out of light to medium rough. So far, find them easier to draw then fade. If I try to fade it usually fades a little or goes straight. Not a bad thing but sometimes a nice fade into the green would be nice. I highly recommend these clubs. Have played Ping G2, Mizuno MX200, and Ping I15 irons. I think I would feel comfortable playing these clubs with 9-10 USGA HC and with my playing style they probably have a better chance of getting and keeping me there then the AP2 712. I have not hit the new AP2 so that may not be totally correct. One con is the chrome finish toward the toe looks a bit scuffed if you hit off center toward the toe. Came pretty close to giving them a 5 rating. Will revisit this review after few more rounds.
