Titleist AP1 712 4-GW Iron Set with Graphite Shafts

Dedicated to providing serious golfers with the highest performing equipment in golf, Titleist introduces the next generation of its groundbreaking Advanced Performance irons. The new Titleist AP1 Iron stays true to the design mission of "Advanced Performance with Feel." It is a multi-material, dual cavity iron that provides modern ball flight and forgiveness with the traditional look, feel, and sound that serious golfers have come to expect from a Titleist iron. The new AP1 model features sleeker contours that result in a better address position, and the iron has been improved with internal weighting that utilizes higher density tungsten in order to distribute mass more efficiently which increases the moment-of-inertia (MOI) without changing the CG location or the blade length. The higher MOI provides more consistent ball speed across the clubface and better distance control. Better distance control leads to more scoring opportunities and is the key to good iron play. Finally, this iron provides more forgiveness without any loss of workability or shot control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by I Wasn't A Titleist Fan Until Now I have always loved the balls, but Titleist clubs always seemed to ask more of me than I could deliver. In the past, I found them unforgiving and a little outdated. The 712 AP1's have given me reason to change my opinion. I have been on a search for new irons for several months and, frankly, I have liked something about everything I have tried. I like Mizuno's JPX's distance, but not their forgiveness. The Callaway X Hots were easy to hit, but the significant offset caused me to hook them. The Pings felt harsh, but all Pings feel harsh. I was about to give up until I tried the AP1's. The are forgiving, workable and have very dependable distance. Of course that means even my mishits seem to fly a consistent distance. And while they aren't forged, they feel like they are forged. I like the look and even though the top line is a little heavy for some reason it doesn't look heavy when you get over the ball. If you are in the market I think you should give these a look.
