The Garmin Approach G6 GPS is a versatile player for the golf course. The slim design of the G6 allows it to store easily in any pocket. The Approach G6 also offers different types of mounting accessories. A sunlight-readable display and an enhanced Approach G-series user interface with new graphics and numbering allow even the most detailed information such as the new lay-up arcs to be easily visible while mounted. Building on the success of the Approach series, the G6 is preloaded with a worldwide database of 25,000+ courses and has an internal rechargeable battery. The glove-friendly 2.6" touchscreen display is the focal point of the unit's exterior to portray a clean and durable finish. This easy-to-use device with convenient buttons allows expanded scoring and stat tracking. Being a Garmin, G6 is also rugged, waterproof, and reliable, making it ready to play right out of the box.

I purchased this particular GPS because it came fully loaded with 2500 courses -no need to download those courses you want to play, beause it was said to have ~15 hour battery life and it got good reviews on Golfsmith. This little gadget is packed with nice features, is a great compact size with an easy to see screen even in bright sunlight, and is very user friendly. I have not needed to refer to the online manual yet, because it's so intuitive. The battery lasts for 1-2 full 18 hole rounds depending on the number of features used. This GPS keeps score for 4 players, can measure the distance of each shot and the club you used for the shot. It keeps track of the average distance you hit with each club in your bag. It gives you distances to various points on the fairways and distances to the front and back of the green and to the pin. You can move the pin placement with a tap on the screen for increased accuracy. So far I've been very satisfied with it. I would absolutely recommend it to friends. The battery life could be longer, and it would helpful if it came with, or had available for purchase, a golf cart mounting device. September 11, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best GPS ever I have owned many GPS systems. In my opinion the G6 is by far the best. It is small enough to put in your pocket and a and still have a screen that is readable. The convenience of not needing to download courses and not having a membership fee is certainly a big plus. I should have gone to Garmin a long time ago, their devices are hassle free and you don't need to be on hold with customer service just to set it up. Just turn it on and click on the course you are at and play golf. I love it. February 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE the G6 I've always used a rangfinder (first a Laser Link and most recently a Bushnell Z6). Always had trouble hitting the front of bunkers and the front and back of greens though. Thought about the GPS as an additional source of info on the course and came up with the G6 as THE best option based on a bunch of online reviews. WOW, do I ever love this device. I still use the Bushnell to zap the flag to get an exact distance to the pin but knowing the exact distances to the front of bunkers, the front and back of greens and being able to plan my layup distances to a safe landing area is soooo great. First round out with the G6 was my best yet of the year, just 4 over par with a double on a thinned sand shot. Can't wait to use this thru the summer. Awesome purchase. March 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Accurate, bright sun readable, easy carry Very impressed with the G6. As I wear reading glasses, I was concerned that I'd be able to read the device with the naked eye, but it is fine and I don't have to futz with putting on readers to see the number. It's also very easy to read in bright, direct sunlight. I've used it on three different courses and yardages are spot on. My buddy carries a rangefinder and the G6 seems very accurate. I don't trust any device to closer than a couple yards, and this GPS is right there. Size, battery life, and features are on par or better than I've seen with other GPS. This is a good pick.
