Mizuno MP-650 Driver

The Mizuno MP-650 Driver is a Tour level driver with the head shape, specifications and technologies designed specifically to perform for the better player. A slightly open, deeper face with 450cc volume head design delivers a mid-launch, low spin and a penetrating yet workable trajectory. Two strategically placed internal weights in a player-preferred, pear-shaped head produce a neutral to slight fade trajectory. These technologies and design elements, combined with a 5-layer multi-thickness CORTECH face, will truly optimize distance AND control off the tee.

Additional features:

  • Shaft: Fujikura Orochi 65 D

Rated 5 out of 5 by SOLID!!! I took a "flyer" on this driver at a local golf shop for $199, I have one of the MP-650 hybrids and have been very pleased with the club... The last driver I purchsed was a Cleveland Hi-Bore and really have had no reason to change drivers is six years as I'm still bangin' the Hi-Bore. After playing one round with the MP-650, the Cleveland will not be in the bag again ANY TIME SOON. The MP-650 feels awesome in your hands, sets up great, and the feedback is incredible! My swing speed is 105+ so I love the 65g Fujikura shaft. Bottom line... Good swing, long drive. Bad swing, your going to know you missed it and where. I'm more of a traditionalist and think the current product from Taylor Made, Callaway, and many others is too gimmicky with all the flashy colors, tools and adjusting garbage... I'm glad to see Mizuno is still making clean, good-looking, solid product for old school guys like me. October 5, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Steak I ordered this driver sight unseen simply based on research and the reputation of Mizuno quality. I have always played Mizuno irons and they are some of the best irons on the market. However, Mizuno is not really known for their drivers. That may soon change.... After much waiting, I finally had the opportunity to test this driver out on the range. Mizuno made a decision not to add adjustability, nuts and bolts to this driver. In today's time many premium and non-premium drivers comes with a wrench, screws and manual. Instead, Mizuno decided to focus on feel and workability for the "skilled" golfer and then offer a second product for the player that desires more forgiveness. Not adding adjustability was a bold and critical move for a premium priced driver. However, before you count the Mizuno 650 out, I suggest you simply hit it. The feel on this club is beyond compare. It felt like hitting a forged blade in the sweet spot versus hitting a driver. This club feels and plays like a workable forged blade. The feel is addictive, I did not want to stop hitting balls. The only set back is that when you hit the club well it feels like a ball is not in front of the club and I found it hard to figure out how far I hit the ball. Connecting to a golf monitor quickly showed me that I was hitting effortless drives 250 - 280 yards, which is great for me. Longer than my previous driver. If you enjoy shot making and a driver that responds to well hit shots buy this club. One of the most solid striking drivers I have ever hit. It simply performs in a nice and quiet manner. It eludes quality and precision. Most of the other drivers I hit were flavors of the month hamburgers, but this my friends is the steak... February 16, 2012
