Ping Anser 3-PW Iron Set with Steel Shafts - Black Dot

The Ping Anser Iron Setĺs progressive design makes it easy to launch the ball higher with the long irons and lower with the short irons for precise, consistent shot making. An 8620 steel body combines with a dense tungsten weight and hollow sole to optimize the CG and elevate MOI. Larger long irons promote forgiveness and higher launch; heads progress to smaller short irons for more control. Predictable ball flights are achieved through progressive stabilizing bar technology. In the long irons, the bars angle out wider and are thinner, lowering the CG to launch the ball high. The bars get increasingly vertical and thicker through the shorter irons to bring the ball in lower and more penetrating with high spin. Anser irons also feature machined faces and grooves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top quality Ping iron I have played forged irons mostly & for my 50TH b-DAY I decided to get a more forgiving set of forged irons! While these irons are not considered Mizuno soft, they are very forgiving! I ordered a custom set 3-P with Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts at D2. Just as Ping advertised the ball flight was great - no ballooning, penetrating down range flight. The irons are easy to hit high & low, not as much curve left & right. One note of caution is that the irons have more bounce than typical blade or tour type irons that makes them a little tougher to hit off the summer time hardpan, however the thin type of hits still get in the air for good carry distance. I would say that the forgiveness design of these irons more than compensates for their shortcomings. I am getting use to the offset in the long irons (3-5) & seeing very consistent distances & flight with all irons that gives me confidence. There are plenty of more forgiving irons out their to choose from, however If you are a player looking for a forgiving, consistent & still workable set of irons, these fit the bill. Rated 5 out of 5 by The tungsten weight and bars do work The ball flight across the whole set is very consistent. 8/9/P do not balloon, 3/4/5 are high for holding greens. My previous set was forged irons as well and Anser irons are not as buttery, just a tad more feedback, which I find is a positive. The sound is solid. Project X is a great shaft for those who can load it properly, otherwise, distance loss will results, compared to DG. The up side for project X is that direction dispersion is much tighter. The release of the club head will be a result of the skill of the golfer, instead of the using a softer tip of the DG, which tend to release a bit more inconsistently. Coming from a set of irons with thin top lines, I always thought Ping are weird looking (especially those with no ferrule). I went to the golf show and hit the S56 and Anser, felt great, and didn't find the offset / rounded topline very distracting. Glad I got a chance to try it there. The custom/fitting story of ping comes standard. Very happy with the set. April 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by AWESOME !!! 59 years old, 9 HC, bought with Project X 6.0 shaft. I have been using the Mizuno MP 63 and before that the MP 53. These clubs get the ball up quickly 5,4,3 irons with on average of 12 yards further. They are a very easy to hit with a draw on the 4 and 3 iron. They are Easy to work them with draw and fade. Best of all you get a soft solid feel when you hit around the sweat spot. I would strongly recommend these irons. Only down side is PRICE!, but I don't think you will be disappointed. August 30, 2012
