Callaway X Utility Prototype Hybrid Iron with Steel Shaft

The Callaway X Utility Prototype Hybrid Iron is made with hollow-forged construction and a high-strength Maraging Steel face that produce high ball speeds. This utility iron is designed to provide a better and more versatile alternative to long irons in a variety of situations, like hitting off the tee on a tight par-four or into a green from the fairway or rough. Available in three different lofts (18, 21, and 24 degrees), this club also features a shallow-face height with a deep center of gravity and a very appealing, strong sound at impact.

Tour-Inspired Sole

Inspired by a prototype hybrid that Phil Mickelson played, Callaway Chief Designer Roger Cleveland relieved the heel and toe of this utility iron so that they move through grass easier and penetrate tougher lies in the rough. Also, it features more weight at the bottom and a deep center of gravity to help create higher launch angles.

Forged for Performance

Forged construction is designed for excellent feel along with a high-strength Maraging Steel face to produce fast ball speeds.

Versatile Design

A weight screw is used to optimize the weight of the club for more options from a variety of lies.

Trusted by the Best Players in the World

Callaway X Utility Prototype Irons have already become a popular choice on the PGA Tour, where players like Phil Mickelson, Colt Knost, Kelly Kraft and Ernie Els are using them in competition. At the 2012 Open Championship, Els used three of these utility irons to win his second Claret Jug and fourth career major.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product Great club launches the ball a mile. Would recommend it to anyone. April 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great feel Great solid feel and workability. Easy to hit and distance is no problem April 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! I finally found a club to fill the yardage gap between my 3w and 3i. I didnt want to add a 5w and I have a tendency to hook hybrids so this club was perfect for my needs. It hits like a long iron but has the benefits of a hybrid. It is easy to work both ways and hit high or low. I ended up hitting it 4 times during during its first round in the bag and hit all 4 fairways with it off of the tee. It cant get any better! January 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great club with a good swing As a 22 handicapper, this club plays well with a swing in the sweet spot. My first fairway swing to reach the green from 243 yards on a par 5 did the job. However, there is no forgiveness for miss hits. I love this club despite that fact. Recommend for those looking for options for woods and hybrids. December 29, 2013
