Nike VR_S Covert Tour Fairway Wood

The Nike VR_S Covert Tour Fairway Wood is the world’s first high speed cavity back fairway wood. The High Speed Cavity back design provides longer and straighter shots while Nike’s patented FlexLoft allows for independent face angle and loft adjustability. The 194cc 3-wood head is adjustable from 13 to 17 degrees of loft and the 177cc 5-wood head is adjustable from 17 to 21 degrees of loft. Both have three face angle positions. Enhanced 2013 NexCOR Face Technology gives the deep face head a 45% larger hot zone for more distance and workability. The VR_S Covert Tour also features a Mitsubishi Rayon KURO KAGE Silver 70 shaft.

High Speed Cavity Back Technology: The High Speed Cavity Back in the VR_S Covert is a technology used in irons, and now brought to drivers, fairways and hybrids for the first time by Nike Golf. The result is greater distance and control. The Cavity Back is visible from the sole view of the club, but is covered by the crown to be more pleasing at address – hence the name Covert. By incorporating this new hidden geometry into fairway woods and hybrids, Nike Golf engineers have been able to move the weight of the club to the corners, raising Moment of Intertia (MOI) to increase forgiveness and add even more distance to off-center shots.

FlexLoft Technology: Nike Golf’s FlexLoft is a simple pull, turn, and push/tighten mechanism that allows for an intuitive adjustment system. The patented Dual Axis adjustment allows golfers to choose their loft and face angle independently of each other by de-coupling loft from face angle. This all leads to an optimal ball flight for more distance as well as enhanced workability.

NexCOR Face Technology: The NexCOR face technology is designed to deliver faster ball speed and longer shots from a wider area of the face. NexCOR creates more speed at impact by employing variable face thickness that increases the ball speed off the clubface, especially on the bottom half where players are most likely to make contact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 Very accurate Just switched to this 3 Wood to get something more open than what is on the market. Have it setup to 17°/Right and it hits a nice penetrating 245 fade. As far as distance goes this isn't one of the further hitting 3 Woods on the market. Even at 13° I'm just barely getting what the 910F 15° gets. This clubs saving grace is accuracy and consistency in ball flight off mishits. It goes where I want it to and at 17° stops where I want it as well. Compared to the G20, 910F, and RBZ this club is the most consistent, with very penetrating ball flight and a nice feel off the face. (Try to get it on sale though!) April 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not Amazingly Long, but Accurate Having played a Taylormade burner 2.0 for most of my golfing life, I've never really had the option of taking a 3 wood off of the deck. Went to Golfsmith looking for a good, solid 3 wood to hit off the deck. As much as I wanted to believe the hype about the RBZ 2, it showed zero results from the deck. Since I had already bought the Covert driver, I decided to give this a try. As soon as I picked it up I noticed how slightly heavier the head was and how much feel it had. On my very first shot I was amazed at how easy it was to hit. When I went to the driving range later, I noticed how I hit it even better off the deck than I did off the tee! I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a lot more accuracy from everywhere and doesn't need a whole lot of disance. March 15, 2013
