Odyssey Tank Putter

Odysseyís newest addition to the alternative category is called the Tank Putter. It comes in short and long options and features specifically weighted components with a Tour-preferred balance point for a higher MOI and greater stability through impact. One of the main reasons they were able to achieve this level of stability is the total club MOI. Short options have a total club MOI thatís 34% higher than a standard putter, and for long options itís 109% higher than a standard putter.

Counterbalance Stability Weighting

  • Uses a counterbalance weight, heavier head (400g) and heavier shaft (150g) to quiet the hands during the stroke
  • Added weight raises MOI to give more stability through impact and engages the big muscles to promote a more pendulum-type stroke that helps keep the wrists from breaking down

New and Improved White Hot Pro Insert

  • New and improved White Hot Pro insert is highly engineered for more consistent sound, feel and performance across the striking surface
  • A new laser milling cutting process allows Odyssey to achieve extremely tight tolerances for more consistency and performance
  • Laser cutting allows Odyssey to better optimize the insert shape to the head shape

Tour Preferred Balance Point

  • Balance point is lower on the shaft, a more conventional approach that Tour players prefer

Double Barrel Alignment

  • Frames the golf ball to provide clear alignment at address

Total Club MOI

  • 34" and 36" putters have a total club MOI that is 34% higher than a standard putter and a 19% increase in total club weight
  • 38" and 40" putters have a total club MOI that is 109% higher than a standard putter and a 32% increase in total club weight

Short and Long Options

  • Short Option - 34" and 36" with 400 gram head, heavy shaft and brass counterbalance weight (40 gram)
  • Long Option - 38" and 40"with 400 gram head, heavy shaft and brass counterbalance weight (30 gram)

Tour-Proven Head Shapes

  • Features a modified #7 head shape, Odysseyís most popular model on Tour

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great but... I bought this putter to replace my od Odyssey belly putter thinking that a counterbalanced shaft that extends past the hands would be the next best thing. I will say that this is a great putter. What I loved about it was the weight and the smooth roll I got with it. What I didn't like about it was I couldn't make the ball go in the hole often enough inside of 10 feet. I am sure it was more me than the putter as I do believe this is a great putter but in the end I returned and went with a Ping B60. I am sure that if I had more time to work with this putter I would have overcome the issues I was having but I only had 10 days to return it (Golfsmith's Used Club playability plan). I would still recommend this putter as Odyssey makes great stuff. August 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dropped a 75 footer on the first green Bought this putter a little over a month ago and this Saturday was the first time that I took it out to the course for a full round. Dropped a 75 footer for birdie on the first green. I one putted on the first five greens and had 26 putts for the entire round. I have never played a round with less than 35 putts. I have used an over-sized grip for the past five or six years and I really like the feel of this putter, with a regular sized grip. The counter-balancing makes the putter seem very balanced and easy to make a good stroke. I can not wait to play my next round with this putter. I will have this putter in the bag for a long, long time. March 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A very interesting and productive innovation. I expected this putter to feel a lot like the Heavy Putter, heavy in the head, etc. But the weight here is nicely balanced and it doesn't feel that much different, only more stable. January 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by So much confidence Im a 2 handicap and putting has always been just an average part of my game. I have owned many many putters from Odyssey, Scotty Cameron and Taylormade (standard, long & belly) i guess it has been a search for a putter that just feels right and the Tank 38inch putter has finally given me that feeling!!! the high MOI gives great confidence and the counter balance allows you to consistently repeat the same stroke over and over again. It is so easy to sink those tricky little 3 footers with this putter and after a decent week of practice you will be able to establish a good feel/memory for your other distances. This putter will not put the ball in the hole for you but it does allow you to make a consistent stroke, it gives you great confidence, the insert gives a great soft feel for a heavy head and i think that the #7 head is one of the best heads out there for alignment. I love that the alignment lines go from the back all the way up to the face of the putter. I have played about 10 rounds with this putter now with noticeable results and i enjoy pulling it out of the bag to use it. I no longer find myself playing with the putter line up at the pro shop as i already have my ideal putter in the bag. Highly recommended and will suit a player of any skill level. November 22, 2013
