Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Service and clubs I am a beginner and had clubs from the 70's. My wife got me this set for Christmas and from day 1 this added over 50 yards to my drive. I have better control and enjoy the game much more. I would also like to thank GS, they were very helpful with the clubs and when a shirt I bought here ripped they exchanged it no problems. Rated 1 out of 5 by do not buy I bought this set 3 months ago and 3 clubs have already broken. They are cheaply made which is why there always on sale. The sale price is more then what they are really worth. December 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Snake Eyes, GoilfSmith This review is from a Beginners perspective plus these are the first Full set of clubs I have every owned. I tried to educate myself the best I could to make a sensible choice before buying anything. What follows are the general highlights of what I learned. First, Irons: It can be a tricky decision based on the look of the clubs and your strengths and weaknesses as a golfer. I found there are four types of heads. Blades, Shallow cavities, Deep-cavity and Undercut-cavity. I'll let you research for yourself what they are and do, but the snake eyes have an undercut-cavity. This I found is the safest choice for a beginner as the design allows the manufacture to manipulate precisely where the majority of the weight sits in the head. A beginner or a high handicapper does not have to hit the ball in the sweet spot of the head all the can get away with being off. Like everything there is a tradeoff. Their disadvantage is that they don't provide the same playability as blades or muscle-back, plus they are the bulkiest of the four types. Next, the Putter, there are three L's when selecting. Loft, Length and Lie angle. If you get them wrong, you will not putt well. How this putter fits you, is up to you to determine. It's not bad in my view, but again, not the best either. Not to get too long winded but the Hybrids and drivers are OK . Finally, if you are like me, the Worse you are, the more you need custom-fit equipment. I had these clubs sized and re-gripped to match my body and swing. it was a small upgrade and I'm glad I did it. The game has enough impediments and I didn't want another with ill-fitted clubs. Rated 4 out of 5 by My experience with Snake Eyes and Golfsmith I saw this set and saw this is what many consider a "starter set." Not so, but good price to start with. I have played Golfsmith and Snake Eyes equipment since 1980, and have been golfing for 60 years. I am a 14 handicap which is as good as it gets for me. I have had sets made for me and I have made my own. I play at an upscale country club and during a scramble recently, an older previously very low handicapper was caught going through my bag to see what I was playing as I was pretty much having a great day and knocking down pins. Other members get mad/upset when I tell them what I spent on my set of Snake Eyes irons after I take their money. Point being, Snake Eyes equipment, properly fitted, is as good as anything out there. Not cutting edge, but if you are a good golfer.....even a scratch golfer.... these clubs will not hold you back unless you are a Tour Blade +handicap player, and I think the problem would likely be mental. (btw for beginners, +handicaps ADD to their score after a round because they average below par). So do not hesitate to get these clubs. You may have to get them "fit" after the fact, but these clubs should last you until the shafts are dead, or you just have a hankering to get new tech. Yes, Snake Eyes is really excellent quality for any golfer who is not pretentious and has to have what their favorite pro is playing (but you know HE IS NOT playing the same shafts or even the same clubhead as the $1000 set you may buy). Good Luck to you all! November 28, 2014
