TaylorMade SLDR Driver

Loft up for More Distance the TaylorMade SLDR Driver's CG location is low-and-forward, a monumental shift in metalwood thinking. For decades it has been accepted that a low-and-back CG is best. Moving the CG forward promotes faster ball speed and lower spin. And in order to get the most distance from SLDR, you have to change the way you think about loft.

FACT: High Launch + Low Spin + More Loft = More Distance

No longer is playing a driver with 12 degrees of loft something to be ashamed of. In fact, former British Open Champion Stewart Cink is playing a 12 degree SLDR. While it was admittedly strange to him at first, once he started carrying the ball past his playing competitors, he was sold. Try lofting up yourself to see just how much it will benefit your game. Youll be blown away.

SLDR maximizes distance for all golfers

  • Low forward CG makes SLDR TaylorMade's lowest spinning driver ever
  • SLDR unlocks that distance by enabling the golfer to hit the ball higher with less spin WHEN THEY ADD LOFT
  • SLDR can help all golfers get closer to the ideal launch conditions of 17°/1700rpm
  • All golfers can achieve distance gains w/out changing their swing or ball speed

"Our expertise at positioning the center of gravity low and forward in a driver sets us apart from our competitors and is vital to making SLDR the spectacular distance machine that it is."

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing distance I went from hitting 230 yard drives on average to 275 after purchasing this driver. I bought the 10.5 speeder 57 and loft down one notch. Hitting into the wind using this driver and Taylormade Lethal's is a joke. August 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beyond expectations I bought this club 3 months ago. This is not a just tried it and loved it review. I was fitted and tried many of the newest gold clubs but this one showed a less dispersive pattern than any of the others by far. It was early in the season and my swing was not grooved. Now it is and I've grown to trust this driver more than any I've ever owned. The technology is really a step beyond anything out there, not just a fad. By next year you'll see that Callaway, Nike and Cobra will copy this. There is nothing I would change. One note, I have not reset either the loft or the draw setting. I was fit very well. This club gives me between 10 and 50 yards better than my old club and I've still got to learn to trust the draw when I green light the speed I can straight pull 270. June 29, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Should have waited for the more forgiving SLDR2 Great driver if you hit it relatively close to the sweet sport. I hit it well at the Taylormade demo days and then purchase it. I noticed after a couple weeks it penalizes you quite a bit if you don't hit its narrow sweet spot. It's not a driver you can hit higher on the face or closer to the toe or heel like I could with my R1 and get away with it..sure not great distance but my R1 got better distance than the SLDR on mishits. More of a players driver than a game improvement driver. Probably why the words Forgiveness, I noticed a high MOI or the Forgiveness are not mentioned on the Taylormade website when discussing the SLDR. I returned it and got the Big Bertha which has been a game changer for me. But If you hit all your drives flush, then the SLDR is the driver for you as it does provide crazy distance due to the lower spin rate if your swing speed is above average. Or you could wait as I assume the SLDR2, with a larger more forgiving sweet spot will be out by the end of summer. May 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Believe the hype! Went to Golfsmith today with the intention of buying the Callaway X2 Hot, but hit in on the monitor for a while and was not consistent and only average 230yrds. I worked with some of the staff there and they figured my back spin on the ball was tremendously high. I tried about 5 different drivers over 2 and a half hours. I was about to give up and leave before I convinced myself to try the Taylor Made SLDR again. I dropped down to the 9.5 degree and immediately dropped my backspin by over 1100rpm and my drives were averaging 285yrds. 50 yards further than any other club I hit! Had a steady fade on it until I adjusted the weight closer to the heel of the club and it really straightened out for me. Needless to say I carried one out of the store. May 1, 2014
