TaylorMade Ghost Spider S Counter Balanced Putter

TaylorMade has taken what theyíve learned through Tour professionals about the previous Ghost Spider models to create the Ghost Spider S Counter Balanced Putter, which is more stable, forgiving, and easier to square. This putter promotes stability for all stroke types, while the Tour-designed crown flows smoothly into the outer frame for less distraction. Its black and white frame and single white center-line promote focus, accurate aim, and stroke awareness, and a PureRoll Surlyn insert produces an incredibly soft-yet-solid feel and superior forward spin for smooth and accurate roll.

Additional features:

  • 6000 MOI makes it easy to square the face at impact to start the ball on your intended line
  • 6000 MOI delivers tremendous twist resistance on the backswing and off center hits
  • 6000 MOI promotes phenomenal distance control for more one-putts and fewer three-putts

Rated 4 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by great I enjoy this putter, and would recommend, I made one mistake, that I should have gotten the 35 inch. but this is a great putter September 29, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by More of the same from TaylorMade I tried to like the Ghost Spider S, but in the end I couldn't tell a big difference from previous TaylorMade mallet putters. Even the new PureRoll insert feels similar to the AGSI insert on my 2010 Ghost Rossa Corza. The problem with these inserts is that the ball loves to skid and spin right off the face. I never have this issue with traditional blades, the Odyssey White Hot, or Nike polymetal faces. Only the TaylorMade AGSI and PureRoll inserts seem to do this. At first, I felt the alignment on the Ghost Spider S was awesome, but after several more putts I felt that it was more difficult to gauge speed control/distance especially with short putts. The feel wasn't that great, mainly due to the design of the putter head and insert. It got a 5.0 performance rating and a Gold seal at Golf Digest, but honestly I felt it was similar to older TaylorMade mallet putters - which are good but not great. The paint comes off very easily. The selling point is the high MOI, which resists twisting at impact. However, I cannot feel what the head is doing. I mainly do better with a blade putter, so if you are a crack shot with a mallet, you may perform better with the Ghost Spider S. The counterbalanced version comes with a 38" shaft and a pair of 12g weights in the head. The loft measured 2.3 degrees and the lie was 69 degrees. The overall static weight of the counterbalanced model was 658 grams. The stock grip is a mid-sized Winn which I used to like and prefer because it fills my hand completely, however after using the Golf Pride Tour Traditional (very thin pistol grip), I have much better feel and feedback with a thinner grip. Overall: 3/5 stars. The Ghost Spider S and the counterbalanced version may be ok for a beginner, but there is no feel or feedback. The paint isn't very durable either. September 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Deal!! Got this sweet little putter on an awsome deal and the best part is what a great putter it is too. Rolls true and lines up very square. The only issue was it only came in 38" length, easy enough to change but I'm playing with it to see what length change if any I want to make. August 11, 2014
