Callaway Apex 5-PW, AW, SW Iron Set with Graphite Shafts

Conventional wisdom has been that you can't have extreme, radical performance in a forged iron. Conventional wisdom couldn't be more wrong. The Callaway Apex Iron delivers X Hot distance in a forged iron thanks to its multi-material construction. This iron features a forged carbon steel body that provides the feel and responsiveness most Tour players prefer and merges it with an ultra-thin, high-strength carpenter steel face, the same material used in Callaway's X Hot fairway woods, to produce faster ball speeds off the face for increased distance while providing the same feel of a forged head. The deep undercut cavity channel that runs from heel to toe creates more unsupported face area that allows more surface area of the face to flex, thus making it hotter and more forgiving. The tungsten sole inserts lower the center of gravity in the longer irons to help achieve higher launch angles and more forgiveness, and a polymer insert at the back helps absorb vibrations. It's a game-improvement iron that doesn't look like one, but it's loaded with game-improvement characteristics designed to improve everyone's game.

Additional features:

  • Ultra Hot Face - thin 455 Carpenter Steel face insert increases ball speeds 1mph to 2mph for more distance
  • Forged Carbon Steel Body - 1020 Forged Carbon Steel body delivers soft, responsive feel
  • Tungsten Sole Inserts - Tungsten-weighted inserts in the sole of the long irons produce a lower center of gravity (CG), higher launch angles, and maximum forgiveness
  • High Performance Wide Grooves - new high-performance wide-space grooves deliver more consistent spin from a variety of lies
  • UST Recoil is a lightweight graphite shaft with a higher flex point, resulting in great feel and workability

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 223 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Truly love these irons! Great distance & accuracy! I got the 3 iron to add to my matching set of irons and took a hybrid out of my bag. These irons gave me an extra club in distance are very accurate and have great FEEL. These irons seem to have radar I frequently hit shots that fly directly at the pin they have from the first day I was trying them out at the retailer's range I went back three times to see if the first time was a fluke but over 3 different days and the different swings that entails they were the most consistent irons by far. I bought a set last October so I've had them a year now and my handicap has dropped from about a 10 to a 6. I have finally shot a round of par or better and got my first hole in one! Now the ace was luck but the frequency of shots that seem to be locked on the pins is up dramaticly. I haven't increased range time and still generally play just once a week but I've had WAY more rounds in the 70s than I've ever had before probably more since buying them than all prior years combined (lots of years)! These clubs are EASY to swing I never thought I'd really notice that much of a difference from my old set but was just looking for more distance as my yardages were dropping but I think the lighter stiff shafts just clicked with my swing because I picked up distance and accuracy and I am feeling more pure "powdered " shots than ever before. It will be a long time before these sticks come out of my bag! October 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I couldn't have asked for more! I had been using a hand me down set of clubs for the last 5 years. I got into a league this year, and even though I was playing at least once a week, I never seemed to get any better. So,I decided a new set of clubs might help and boy did they. I have consistently knocked 10 or more strokes off my game. The clubs do all the work, very forgiving and 1 to 2 clubs more distance. The only problem is that I don't get to use them all because I'm hitting so much straighter and longer. Very nice irons October 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 The best irons ever Wish you offered the latest grips. But the best irons from Callaway ever. October 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best of the best Today I took the plunge. I compared TM, Mizuno, Callaway XR, Ping, with the Apex. The 7 iron head to head tests were very interesting. First and foremost, the Apex felt like the ball was not even hit. Super smooth. Very good address look encouraged an occasional rip at it. The apex was very long. When pressed with the graphite shaft, my best hit was over 200, and the average was 180. I tried many mishits, but still achieved over 150 yards. It will be interesting to see how the dialed in accuracy compares to my current TMs. Bought the AP through 4. September 28, 2015
