Callaway Apex 4-PW, AW Iron Set with Steel Shafts

Conventional wisdom has been that you can't have extreme, radical performance in a forged iron. Conventional wisdom couldn't be more wrong. The Callaway Apex Iron delivers X Hot distance in a forged iron thanks to its multi-material construction. This iron features a forged carbon steel body that provides the feel and responsiveness most Tour players prefer and merges it with an ultra-thin, high-strength carpenter steel face, the same material used in Callaway's X Hot fairway woods, to produce faster ball speeds off the face for increased distance while providing the same feel of a forged head. The deep undercut cavity channel that runs from heel to toe creates more unsupported face area that allows more surface area of the face to flex, thus making it hotter and more forgiving. The tungsten sole inserts lower the center of gravity in the longer irons to help achieve higher launch angles and more forgiveness, and a polymer insert at the back helps absorb vibrations. It's a game-improvement iron that doesn't look like one, but it's loaded with game-improvement characteristics designed to improve everyone's game.

Additional features:

  • Ultra Hot Face - thin 455 Carpenter Steel face insert increases ball speeds 1mph to 2mph for more distance
  • Forged Carbon Steel Body - 1020 Forged Carbon Steel body delivers soft, responsive feel
  • Tungsten Sole Inserts - Tungsten-weighted inserts in the sole of the long irons produce a lower center of gravity (CG), higher launch angles, and maximum forgiveness
  • High Performance Wide Grooves - new high-performance wide-space grooves deliver more consistent spin from a variety of lies
  • New True Temper XP95 steel shaft delivers high-launch angles with a controlled ball flight for premium performance in a lightweight offering

Rated 5 out of 5 by Check these out! I had been playing the Ben Hogan Apex Pros for 10 years and really loved the forged feel with forgiveness. I was really excited when I heard that Calloway bought the Ben Hogan brand and was going to re introduce the Apex. I originally tried the Apex Pros and they were a bit too much for me and I turned them in for the Apex. I couldn't be happier with them. The feel, forgiveness and distance is great! If you're in the market for new clubs, put these on your "must try" list. FYI- I am a 12 handicap. June 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best irons ever!! I have always been back and fourth between Ping and Callaway clubs. After using the Ping S59's for 8 years I went to Golfsmith in Arlington Tx. to upgrade to the S56 irons. After playing two rounds with them I realized these were not as easy or forgiving as my S59's to hit. I did some research on the Apex Callaway irons and went back to Golfsmith. They were awesome in helping me get into the right iron. They took the Pings back and gave me a full credit towards the Apex irons even though I had played with them. A fitter named Joe was very helpful in getting me fit with the right shaft and grip and even gave me a little tip with my grip that straightened my shot out. Now I hit what I am aiming for and these irons feel like butter. The feel of a forged iron with the forgiveness of a cavity back. they are both long and forgiving. Rated 5 out of 5 by Callaway Apex This is my 8th set of Irons. I've had Cavity Back thru Blades. These are by far the best set of Irons I've ever had !! Callaway Bravo !! Expensive but worth it April 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Smooth as Butter I got a set of these with some of the Recoil 110s and they are the best feeling irons I've had and hit to date. And like many golf addicts I've had just about all of them. The current AP2's are a fairly close second which I will sometimes add a couple to my bag just for fun. April 12, 2015
