Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Club! I went into GolfSmith and hit about 10 different drivers and was very surprised that this ended up on the top of my list. I bought one shortly after and quickly got out on the course to try it out without just hitting into a screen. It performed beyond my expectations after giving it a trial run in the store. I was hitting the ball straighter and longer than with my old driver (Titleist). The club is very forgiving, has a great weight, and a very smooth feel off the tee. If you are looking for a forgiving club that will boost your distance without breaking the bank, this is the one. July 21, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Higher loft than stated, longer shaft than most The 10.5 degree Jetspeed was measured to be 14 degrees, while the 9.5 Jetspeed was really 12 degrees. The loft adjustment on the hosel doesn't actually adjust the loft, it just moves the face angle to closed (higher) or open (lower) as with almost all of TaylorMade's adjustable hosel drivers. The Jetspeed head weighs in at a light 194 grams, which is easily 10 grams lighter than my R11S head with the standard 10g/1g weights. The Jetspeed Matrix Velox T shaft is very light at 106 grams which includes the grip and adapter. I tried the regular flex versions of the Jetspeed, SLDR, and my R11S on a Foresight GC2 launch monitor, and found that the Jetspeed yielded slightly longer distances than the SLDR for my swing speed but with slightly higher spin. It yielded an increase of over 10 yards compared to my R11S with less spin, and about the same launch height. The Jetspeed will show higher club speeds because of the longer shaft (46 inches versus 45.5 on most drivers these days). However, depending on how you measure it (the lie of the club), the actual length is about 45.75" when positioned in the playing position. Consequently the standard R11S has an OEM length of 45.75" but measures 45.5" in the playing position. Interestingly enough, the SLDR's standard shaft has an OEM spec of 45.5" and is indeed shorter than the JetSpeed when compared side by side. I went back and tried the 9.5 degree Stiff flex version of the Jetspeed, and found it to have a much better feel at impact, and the total distance was 40 yards longer than with the 10.5 degree / Regular flex Jetspeed when I cranked up the swing speed to 88 mph. However, the Jetspeed somehow isn't as consistent as the SLDR in terms of total distance and spin. The matte black finish scuffs very easily and doesn't look good. The graphics don't really help with alignment either. For me, the Jetspeed yielded slightly longer distances than the SLDR but the SLDR had more consistent side and backspin, with more consistent distances. Unfortunately, the SLDR is also more than twice the price of the Jetspeed. The sound at impact is much more muted than my R11S. The R11S sounds like glass breaking and produces a sharp crack that is noticeable at the driving range - which I actually kind of like. The Jetspeed sounds more like a typical driver, nothing too special or extraordinary. I think it might be because of the thinner materials used on the Jetspeed head, while the R11S seems to have thicker/harder materials. Be sure to use a launch monitor and check your trajectory. Theoretically, I should be fit for a regular shaft, but the stiff flex shaft felt/sounded better and I got the most distance and speed with the stiff flex shaft. The fitter said that I was on the fence between Regular and Stiff, so I could go either way. This was an interesting experience, because I had predominantly gone with Regular, but never knew how well a stiff flex shaft could feel. Overall: 4/5 stars, the finish and graphics aren't good at all, and the clubhead feels cheaply made. The headcover looks/feels cheap as well. It has less spin than my R11S, but about 200-400 RPM more spin than the SLDR. The headcover is the same one used on the SLDR (except it doesn't have SLDR text), as is the wrench, and hosel adapter (as a matter of fact, it is also the same hosel adapter as the R1).
