Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver

Everything Callaway learned about adjustable drivers (and that's a lot) has led to this. The Big Bertha Alpha Driver is the most technologically advanced driver they have ever made, and they believe it's the most advanced driver anyone has ever made. Big Bertha Alpha delivers a total performance package of maximum distance through a new adjustability recipe. Take the new revolutionary Gravity Core, enhance it with Moveable Weight, and dial it in with the Advanced Adjustable Hosel, and you'll be longer than you've ever been. Because Callaway has now gone further than anybody ever has before, so will you.

Gravity Control Adjustability:

  • For the first time ever, the Gravity Core allows players to adjust spin independently of launch angle, resulting in completely optimized ball flights and longer distance
  • Only the Gravity Core from Callaway allows you to adjust freely from an extreme low-spin driver to a more total performance, mid-low-spin driver
  • Together with the adjustable hosel, players now have an added dimension of adjustability necessary to optimize launch conditions and deliver even more ball speed and distance
  • Adjustable weights allow you to dial in your preferred directional bias more precisely, enhancing a draw or neutral shot shape for increased accuracy

Hyper Speed Face:

  • The new Hyper Speed face design is revolutionary - it's more robust than ever to increase ball speed on shots hit across the face for longer drives, more consistently
  • 8% larger face than RAZR Fit Xtreme

Advanced Adjustable Hosel:

  • Increase or decrease loft in 1° increments (up to +2° or down -1°) with the adjustable hosel to optimize launch angle and backspin for maximizing your distance
  • Adjust draw or neutral directional bias to optimize shot shape even further for more accuracy

Forged Composite:

  • High-strength, lightweight crown saves 20-grams of weight, allowing Big Bertha Alpha to have Gravity Controlling Adjustability, a low center of gravity (CG), and maintains a lighter, more playable swing weight. The more adjustability you add to a driver, the more imperative it is to have a forged composite construction

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by What a club!!!! Recently fitted at a Callaway demo days at my club. Previously hitting a Titleist 913D2 10.5 set open with a 72g Diamana shaft. Trackman put the spin on my drives at 4200+ rpms. Hit the Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 9.0 set at 11 N with a 5 g weight in the toe and 3g in the heal with the center weight at the bottom . The same swing speed resulted in slightly better ball speed but reduced the spin to under 2500rpms resulting in 15+ extra yards of carry. First time on the course after my purchase resulted in a continuation of this extra yardage I saw the range. Great club for high spin players!!! April 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Performs as Advertised. It looks great. Cool color scheme. The shaft offerings intrigued me. I went with the Fubuki Stiff on a 10.5 lofted head. The head is heavy, which I like, I like to gauge where the club head is throughout my swing. The shaft feels weird, though. It lacks the responsive feel of my Kai' Li 70 and it does not feel as smooth as my Fuel shaft. But, the Fubuki on this Cally does not feel bad. It is just weird. The sound at impact is a muted thwack, which is okay. I prefer a loud ping. However, this driver is a monster once the ball flies off the head: long, high, straight bombs. It is easily ten to fifteen yards longer than my other drivers. I am thinking about changing the Fubuki for a Kai'Li. Also, according to my golf pro, the shaft on this driver is the real deal, not a phony OEM made-for version. The little sliding weight is easy to use, and seems to work. I like to play a draw and the slide seemed to enhance it. In sum, what the Big Bertha lacks in feel, it makes up in distance and flight. Well done, Callaway. I am hoping the Fubuki grows on me. Rated 2 out of 5 by Jury is still out I am not happy. The manual is not user friendly and I am still having trouble figuring out what setting I want. Much harder when you guessing. They spent too much time on four languages instead of the time to explain the how, what and whys of the adjustments. The sweet spot is difficult to hit and distance is suffered because of that. This is my fourth Callaway driver and the first one I am not happy with April 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great feel - impressive distance - forgiving After playing several different drivers, the Big Bertha Alpha is the real deal. Long, accurate ( even with off center shots) and great feel as ball leaves face. April 7, 2014
