The Titleist 909 D3 Driver is a 440cc, high performance titanium driver with a full pear profile that produces mid launch with low spin, balanced for trajectory and control.

The chassis features a modern shape with a Tour-proven profile to create a low and deep CG (center of gravity) for reduced spin, higher MOI (moment of inertia) and longer, straighter drives. A CNC milled face with thicker, centrally located trapezoidal rings is surrounded by thinner areas to maximize ball speed across the face. The shaped sole provides chassis strength, reduces vibration and tunes the impact acoustics for solid feel and better sound. An extended, full pear profile provides playability through a deep CG for stability while maintaining shot workability and control and an integral titanium hosel design saves weight, provides solid feel and allows for more shaft options.

Best driver on the market.

I was in the market for a new driver and after testing and playing rounds with almost all of the top drivers, this club was more then exceptional. My normal ball shape is a draw, and honestly i dont like it. To me with this club when i set up to the ball the clubhead looks slightly open, which is what i like to see with my driver and fairway woods. Another thing I love about this club is the 440 cc clubhead. also with the low CG, it allows me to tee the ball up for control, which is a must for me when it comes to the driver.

Best Titleist Driver Yet!

Before this, I had been using the Titleist 907 D2 and the crown cracked when I was on the practice range. Since I had been so happy with the 907 D2, I decided to try Titleist's new drivers. I chose the 909 D3 driver with a Graphite Design YS-6+ stiff shaft and I love it. I gained about 20 yards with the driver and the ball flight is a penetrating draw. I would recommend this for the lower handicapper.

Great Titleist Clubhead

Purchased the D3 9.5 model, loved the look of clubhead 440cc, the way it sets up and the pear shaped head, compared to other new drivers & also i like the feel of the .335 tip shaft instead of .350 tip in other manufacturers, so purchased with stock voodoo shaft, as it played the firmest of the 2 offerings, took it out to course and struggle with left side (hook). Was very inconsistant with voodoo so Install Diamana Whiteboard and now am stripping the ball down the middle with hardly any dispersion or curve. I love the control & flight with this club now, am able to play down the tightest of fairways with confidence. Slight draw or fade no problems. However i always played high bend point, stiff tip golf shaft. The bend profiles of the titleist stock shafts are mid and very simular. Swing speed 100-104 with average tempo. So i suggest pay attention to the launch monitor as far as consistancy and try different shafts to find the best for your swing. It may be worth the extra $ in the end.

Titleist excellence

I was using a Taylormade R580 in 8.5 with a XFlex YS-6 shaft, which had served me well for the past 4 years. However that club along with a few others were literally falling apart. It was time to purchase a new driver. I went to the simulator and rounded up the usual suspects, Taylormade, Callaway, Cobra etc... I quickly eliminated most of the boxy shaped clubs. Of the clubs that were remaining, the best performing was the Titleist drivers.

After the purchase, range time and time on the course have proven this to be the best driver I have had yet. The most prominent improvement was sweet spot size. While the club wasn't a massive improvement in maximum distance from my previous driver, the mishits were very noticeably better. In addition the ball goes where you swing. Swing a draw, you get one. But the pendulum goes both ways (which is what I want). I also love the classic appearance, the club exudes confidence.

This is the negative part of the review, and fortunately it isn't directly related to the club. As I mentioned at the beginning, I need 8.5 and XFlex. As it turns out most manufacturers stopped shipping those specs to the stores. As a result I had to place a custom order, which took just under a month from order date to when the driver was delivered. At least it shipped Fed Ex which I appreciate.
