In 2004, TaylorMade introduced Movable Weight Technology in a seminal driver called the r7 quad, which gave golfers the ability to move weight in the driver head to promote changes in trajectory to gain greater distance and accuracy. It was followed by the r7 425, the r7 460 and r7 SuperQuad, drivers whose groundbreaking performance fueled record popularity among tour professionals and recreational players alike.

Now, TaylorMade has unveiled the next driver in the r7 lineage, the r7 Limited, which promotes a change of 35 yards, and does so with only three weights weighing 16-grams, 1-gram and 1-gram. The r7 Limited also incorporates a new, modern and beautiful clubhead shape. Reminiscent of a triangle, with soft corners for a pleasing appearance, the head is faster-looking than any r7 driver head before it, and the address footprint is exceptionally large, giving it a substantial and confidence-inspiring appearance while deeper, lower CG (center of gravity) promotes better launch conditions for even more yardage.

It is also equipped with a new high-performance 60-gram graphite shaft, the Matrix XCon 5.5 MOI, which incorporates a stability-enhancing weave that extends from the butt to the middle of the shaft. The XCon 5.5 MOI is specifically designed to work in conjunction with today's larger, high-MOI driver heads to reduce twisting when contact is made toward the toe or heel.

Deceiving

When I first came across this driver in my local Golfsmith I didn't know what to think. It looked great, but the price made me skeptical. I figured for the money I had to give it a try. I haven't looked back. It's almost June now and I bought this diver in the beginning of March and plan on keeping it around much longer. I have the 9.5 loft and it plays like a beast. My average drives went from about 265 to 280, and I didn't change anything in my swing. Nice sound too. Pick one up, its a gem. Unreal.

Great Driver

I am going into my second season with this driver. The Matrix shaft fits my swing and it's easy to work both ways in the netural setting. I have the 10.5 loft and its fine for me.The meaty sound is a confidence builder....distance wise it's a winner. I do believe TM incorporated all of the design features to come up with a gem with their last R7 driver series. Also have the 1st generation of R9/ 9.5 loft...works better for me in wind...however the 7 Limited is my favorite(both are great clubs).

Looks like Pre-owed R7 Limited are still around...get one...you won't regret it.

Solid Driver

I received this driver when I caved the face of my old R7460 (which I loved dearly) and sent it into TM. Honestly, I was quite reluctant when I took it out of the box. The shape of the driver take some getting used to, but after a handful of rounds, you don't really notice the triangular shape.

This driver has a lot of pop and increased my distance. However, it took a good amount of range- work to hone in the shot shape that I wanted. One thing that I didn't realize until later is that the MatrixOZIK shaft is substantially heavier than the previous TM ones.

I am very pleased with this club when my swing is grooved. On those off days, this club magnifies any error. There is a lot of potential with this driver, just be patient.
