How to Buy a Tennis Racquet

Prestrung vs. Premium?

When shopping for a racquet, you also have to decide whether you want a prestrung model or a premium “performance” frame.

Prestrung racquets cost about $25 to around $100. Most premium frames are priced between $100 and $250 and feature the latest technology. With premium racquets, you usually need to buy string separately (see “How to Choose Tennis Strings”) and have it installed in the frame by a professional stringer.
